Vintage 60cm Chinese Export Black Cloisonne Enamel 12mm Bead Necklace 113 grams
True Chinese Export Cloisonné & Enamel beaded necklace, individually knotted on grey silk cord. Dates to between 1930 and 1947 true Art Deco in Design and period. See the explanation of True Cloisonne below, and beware of modern cheaper chinese copies as in last photo. The necklace measures 60 cm long or 24 inches. The beads have a diameter of approx 12 mm. The beads are predominantly Black (the most highly sought colour) with red, pale green, pink, and blue flowers. Each bead is unique, hand worked. The enamel is shiny and intact. Retains the original Chinese Export signed filigree flower box clasp, synonymous with all Chinese export necklace's.
Excellent vintage condition, No wear or chips to the enamel. Please remember most necklaces can also be worn as bracelets, this one has 3 wraps of 20cm, see photo. Last 6 photos show the value of similar necklaces. True Cloisonné is enamel work that has flattened wires individually placed to create a design on the base metal.
Then each "cloison" cell is separately hand filled with enamel. This is unlike Champleve where the design is part of the base metal. Cloisonné is relatively uncommon in beads and quite labor intensive. The cheaper chinese reproductions have no clioson cells, the wire is placed on top and the beads have molded seams, pattern is only at top and bottom of bead, and are not enamel but painted, s.
